End of Semester Reflection

Image
Within my practicum I had mainly used AI for one thing which was creating rubrics for assignments/activities. I did not do this every time as I found that the rubrics often didn’t directly align with the KUSP’s I was assessing and would grade the opposite of what I wanted it to. For example, a science final project poster was graded very heavily on art rather than science. Although, I learnt how easy it is to integrate technology as well as how effective it is for differentiation. I had a few students in my practicum classroom that were required to use chromebooks in different subjects for things such as IXL or writing assistance. By integrating technology into my entire lesson, I felt that it helped those specific students to not feel singled out and the rest of the class didn’t feel that those students had an advantage.      The course had definitely introduced me to a wide variety of resources and how to integrate them into different subject areas/...

Space Explorer Coding Lesson Plan

Image
Space Explorer Coding Lesson Plan Link I have created an integrated lesson plan that combines technology and science concepts for a grade 6 classroom! In this lesson, students develop a further understanding of objects that are found within space. Students will explore the world of coding to create a visual representation of themselves in space and what they might see on their trip! This lesson will be an excellent experience for my students. Within the grade 6 curriculum, components of space must be explored and understood. This project requires students to use critical thinking to determine what items must be in space and how they might move around in space. On top of the science that is explored through this lesson, coding is also a large part of the grade 6 curriculum. I would love to use this activity to introduce students to coding with the Scratch website . Students explore different areas of coding throughout the year and this would be a great activity to start with as it...

Mini Technology Lesson

Image
Lesson plan link  My two classmates and I have created and taught a mini lesson! Our mini lesson consisted of utilizing technology, specifically the Canva website , to create a vision board in a grade six wellness class! Self monitoring, growth, and goal setting is very important within any classroom setting. By building a vision board, students would learn how to set proper, achievable goals, and track their progress throughout the school year. It is also a fun way to set goals as it has a more creative and visual aspect! This lesson was quite hard to conduct. The planning process had went by quickly and easily but when it had came time to teach, my classmates and I had realized how short our time really was. Our lesson was very well planned but because Canva is a huge website that has many components, it is difficult to be able to complete a final product within a short amount of time. Although we found that the timing was short, we had so much fun teaching others how to u...

I have created a digital story about my new knowledge regarding the Stoney Nakoda communities language, treaty history, land, and more! I hope that you learn something new by watching it! Here is the link to my powerpoint as well so that you can check out the awesome resources that I used on my references page!! Link to my digital story of the Stoney Nakoda community

Technology Usage Within the K-9 School System

I do not have much experience with AI technologies. As AI is a newly developing technology, I have not fully began to use or understand it. Within my own work and schooling, the use of AI is strictly prohibited. It is due to this that I have not had the desire to attempt using it or to learn about it. It has become increasingly known to me that AI will become a bigger part of the future and that I should learn more about it and how to use it.  Within my practicum placement in a grade six classroom, I have not seen much technology being used. The only form of technology that I have seen used is the smart board by my mentor teacher. My mentor teacher frequently utilizes the smart board during her lessons. The reason that my mentor teacher frequently uses it is because it is easily visible to all of the students as well as it is easy to show and create lesson expectations, examples, and more. I do hope that I will see more technology used within my practicum as technology plays a larg...
